thanks for visiting!

Let us tell you a bit about who we are.

Bellport Brewery was born in 2013, Bellport Brewery started by Brian Baker. Brian started as a homebrewer and an active member of Long Island Beer and Malt Enthusiast (or LIBME) , one of the original local home brew clubs on Long Island in NY. There, Brian learned his craft and work on it consistently. After years of homebrewing, Brian looked into what it would actually cost and the possibilities of finding a brick and morter building to open the brewery. His original location was 14 Station Road in Bellport. At that time Basils (a previous location) was not quite in their yet. Unfortunately Brian, a homebrewer and little to no experience in professional brewing and not quite enough financial support was unable to afford his dream home for the brewery. Brian moved his brewery to a location in Farmingdale which was known at the time as “A Taste of Long Island”. This was a poorly run incubator that was too busy with other breweries such as 1940’s, Po Boy, The Brewers Collective, Nightmare and Lithology who all had big asperations of opening their own home brewery. Eventually, every one of the breweries previously mentioned moved on to better things, including us, eventually.. Through the years people came in and out of the brewery to leave their mark to try to help Brian on his way, both financially or assisting in the brewing it self. One significantly member is Rich Flynn of Moriches Field Brewing Company. Rich was an assistant with Brian and helped him move to his first location with distribution throughout Long Island. For the first few years Bellport Brewing was only distributing their product from Montauk to Manhattan. Late in 2015 Bellport Brewing Company accepted an offer from Adirondack Brewing Company to their Barrel Fest annual event. That was the trip that brought Bellport Brewing to upstate New York. Since we have had distribution on our own from Montauk to Cooperstown and Saratoga/Albany. With this acknowledgement of his dedication and skill, Brian finally admitted to himself that he was not cut out for being an employee for another company and allowed his life-long dream of owning a brewery to resurface.

In 2018 Bellport Brewing found its first brick and mortar. They wanted it so bad, that did not dot their i’s and cross their t’s quite enough. They opened Bellport Brewing re-imagined in a strip mall in Bohemia and created a DBA (doing business as..) called “Sunrise Ales & Lagers”. At this point we had a small cult following primarily from upstate NY, Long Island and more particularly the Sayville Farmer’s Market. Sunrise Ales & Lagers was a very exciting project for Brian and staff but was shortly run. After spending a exorbitant amount of money at the location, there was a fire at a store next to Sunrise Ales & Lagers. The fire wasn’t too bad, but it was enough to condemn the next door building, which was Sunrise Ales & Lagers. Brian did not regain any of his money back but was able to be removed from the lease with no additional fee’s.

In 2020, Bellport Brewing found out 14 Station Road was once again on the market. With an empty 401k and an angel investor we were able to make a deal with the landlord. Our lease was signed just day’s before the world saw its first pandemic in decades, Covid-19. Covid made the construction very very hard to complete. With the help of a very understanding land lord, on December 2nd, 2020 Bellport Brewing Company opened their doors to the public.

Today, Bellport Brewery is proud to offer a rotating selection of weekly brewed craft beers and to host a selection of local wines and spirits from Long Island as well. We offer weekly live music, food from the local establishments and even Yoga, Brunch, Comedy and Trivia as a few of things we do. We also rent our facility and can help you cater your next birthday party or any other event coming up. So swing by the brewery and see all of the progress Brian, his wife Danielle and all of their staff has made in the few years!
